Netflix did it again. I started binge watching another show. The show is Once Upon A Time and you’ll never look at your favorite fairytale characters the same way again. Ever. once

I know what you are thinking: Fairytale characters in a real life situation. Sounds cheesy. Eh, you are right…It can get cheesy but that’s to be expected from a show about children’s stories. Besides, a little cheese wouldn’t hurt anyone.

I’m enchanted by Prince Charming…er..David. And Regina is such a evil bi….witch. The writers of the series just make it work. Since it’s created by the ABC network (who is owned by Disney), the stories stay pretty true to the originals except things like SPOILERS!!! Rapunzel’s hair isn’t blond or the wolf isn’t male.

The one thing you should know is that the constant mantra is “All magic comes with a price”. Any and all parts of the show that include magic proves this to be true…so I use it for today’s recipe I dedicate to all of you magic lovers. And chicken lovers.
Get your stuff ready!

Before the magic

Magical Chicken
  1. 2 cloves garlic, minced OR 1 1/2 Tablespoon of garlic powder
  2. 1/2 cup honey
  3. 1/2 cup soy sauce
  4. 1/4 cup chili sauce
  5. 2 tablespoons sesame oil
  6. 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
  7. 2 pounds boneless, skinless chicken thighs (cut into chunks)
  8. Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  9. 1 green onion, thinly sliced for garnish
  10. Sesame seeds, for garnish
  11. Flour or corn starch to thicken sauce
  1. Mix chili sauce, sesame oil, pepper flakes, honey, soy sauce and garlic into a small bowl. Set aside. Place chicken in crock pot and salt and pepper ( a little goes a long way). Pour sauce over chicken and stir to coat. Set pot to 4 HOURS and NO MORE. A longer cook time will darken the chicken and burn the sauce and cause it to have a slight bitterness. 4 hours is plenty to make sure the chicken is cooked through.
  2. Once done, remove chicken to a separate plate and add a 1/2 tsp of flour or cornstarch to thicken sauce. Then pour over chicken. Garnish with sesame seeds and green onion. Serve with rice.
With all magic, this one comes with a price
  1. You won't be able to stop eating it.
