Preparing your home for the spring doesn’t necessarily have to be a boring or burdensome chore. You can approach spring cleaning and home preparation with a different attitude in mind. Remember, your property is valuable and it’s worthy of your time and attention. So take good care of your home and it will take good care of you.

Consider hiring New Jersey roofers in the spring if you discover that your home has missing or broken shingles, or hire a qualified roofer in your neighborhood. The same holds true with plumbing problems. You can hire a Van Nuys plumber to get the job done right or hire an expert in your neck of the woods.

Whatever the case may be, just make sure you take care of potential problem areas before they get even worse. And also make the most of the maintenance tips we’re about to share below to help you prep your home for the upcoming spring.

Tip #1: Clean Up Your Showerheads and Faucets

Have you ever noticed that your faucets are running slower than normal? How about your shower heads? Does the water flow in the shower seem to be slowing down for no apparent reason?

If you answered yes to any of the questions above, it’s probably time to consider cleaning up your faucets and showerheads. A quick way to do this efficiently and thoroughly is to unscrew faucet aerators, showerheads, and sink sprayers. Once they’ve been removed, you can then soak the parts in a 50/50 solution of water and vinegar.

To achieve the best results, we highly recommend soaking these pieces for at least an hour to get the greatest benefits. When you’re through, make sure you rinse them thoroughly with warm water, reattach them, and you should immediately notice a positive difference and you’ll appreciate the benefits of your labor.

Tip #2: Clean out Your Gutters

Unfortunately, your gutters can quickly fill up with plenty of dirt, debris, and unwanted leaves. It’s important to climb up on a ladder and clean out your gutters on a fairly consistent basis. If anything, you should do this at least once a year, or more if it seems like your gutters are backing up.

As mentioned, grab yourself a pair of gloves, a bucket, and a sturdy ladder. Dig into your gutter with your hands and pull out all the dirt and grime you can possibly get your hands on. It’s best to clean this out thoroughly so you can create a clear pathway to properly drain water from off of your roof.

After you’ve removed all the debris by hand, you now need to bring your garden hose up the ladder and thoroughly spray out your gutters to remove any additional gunk left behind. By doing so, you’ll not only clear up the gunk easily noticeable inside the gutter, but you’ll also be able to clear out the downspouts and gooseneck bends so they are completely free and clear once again as well.

Tip #3: Prepare the Soil in Your Garden

Are you thinking about growing vegetables or flowers this spring? If so, you’ll need to prepare the soil in your garden. There are a number of excellent online tutorials that will teach you exactly how to do this so you can grow lush fruits and vegetables and plants this spring, which we highly recommend.

Conclusion

All in all, it’s easy to use the maintenance tips shared today to prepare your home for the spring. Some of these tips are a bit time-consuming, so make sure to leave yourself enough time and put forth the effort to make your home look absolutely amazing this year.
