I just finished a marathon of a meltdown. It was two-fold; one part was when my son came in the room to show me that my iPad is glitchy and then two when my daughter sees that one of her games got the most recent beheading during the last “chopping block” session.
And the day started out so well…
*cue dreamy 70′s la-la music*
We went fishing today. It was the first time for the baby bots. They’ve never even gotten close to learning to fish despite moments of “We should really take them fishing someday.” between me and the hubs.
Leave it to my brother to instigate it. He lead us to a ranch owned by a family friend.
It had a pond. It was private. It was catch & release.
It was just perfect.
When I was on it, I really wanted to reenact The Lonely Island but alas, I was too fearful of landing in the water.
It was gross water. I didn’t want to go in at all so I stayed pretty still.
Once on shore again, I tried with the worms ewww and failed. Hubs had to bait my hooks.
Baby H caught the first one:
I wasn’t too discouraged…yet. I caught a little one but that effer jumped off my line, into the reeds and back in the water.
Before I could snap it. Damn. My first fish since I was 12.
But then I made up for it:
Then the BOY and daddy:
It was an awesome day. Teaching them to fish, being at the ranch, the quiet, the company; it was all amazing. It’ll be a memory for all of us to keep.
And now I’m fixing an iPad after my kids have conked out.
Kinda wish I stayed on the boat.
