I’m going on week 4 of side pain hell. I listen to my hubby deal with the whines of my toddler and the cries of my daughter who wants to be held ( because I always hold her
. )
When I get up, I see a house that I want desperately to clean. A fridge I want to fill with goodies. A kitchen I want to engulf with yummy smells. A dirty car I want to drive ( not currently while on pain meds ) and evidently a job I need to return to.
What has saved me physically is pain meds …….and mentally is twitter and….
Barney Stinson from How I Met Your Mother.
Since I’ve been stuck here at home, I’ve been enjoying the wisdom found in the Barneyisms from the show. I’ve selected a few that seem most relevant to the mommy hood that involves toddlers. Some of the quotes that have since helped in my parenting:
(making new friends at school) “Without you, I’m just the Dynamic Uno.”
(developing self-esteem) “You guys know how it’s hard to be friends with me, ‘cuz I’m so awesome?”
(dealing with losing in a game ) “De—wait for it—nied! Denied!”
(learning to stick up for yourself) “Ted, you’ve been living your whole life in a seat belt. It’s time to unclick.”
(developing a sense of style) “Suit up!”
(understanding that kid tv shows are relevant) “There’s only one street where that is normal. Here’s a hint: a big, yellow bird lives on it.”
(learning the rules ) “Step one to running a marathon: You run. There is no step two.”
My son is going to grow up to be a fine young man. Just like Barney Stinson.

“Look at you, you beautiful bastard, you suited up! This is totally going in my blog!”

Perfect!! Definitely words to live by, but sometimes I do miss hanging on the street where the big, yellow bird lives.
